I am planning to add a sort of epilogue at that time. Probably some photos and a little, capsule summary of what transpired after that time, as well as my thoughts.
There's more to come—just wanted to get that out of the way.
Dot's Diary Blog: Stories and background information related to Dorothy's 1945-46 personal diaries. Dot, my mother, was 17 in 1945, living in the Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago.
Dot's diary entries are accompanied by pictures from her scrapbook and, in some cases, by recollections from her younger sister Louise (“Sis”), and by the news of the day. I've also added comments of my own.
Well, at least Dave's finally getting a move on -- I was beginning to think you were never going to get born.
ReplyDeleteMe too. —D.
ReplyDeleteWow! I can't believe that is the end of Dot's Diary. It had become part of my morning routine for over a year. I am going to miss her. Can't wait to hear what happened to her in later years.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, for sharing your mother's beautiful life.
What a beautiful tribute you've made to your mother! I will miss reading her diary entries each morning. Thank you so much for creating this blog and sharing her story.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I knew it had to end. But . . . such a kick reading about different times in a neighborhood we knew so well. I do hope there will be extensions of it, even if only occasionally. Maybe some updates on the neighborhood? Finally, what a great way to honor your mother.
ReplyDeleteI'm really going to miss you and Dot- you've become a part of my every day, as well as my parents and aunt and a bunch of other people I know. They've loved re-living these years with Dot and I've loved learning about their youth through her. Thanks for doing it, and God bless you!
